FAQs

How much does garbage disposal repair cost?

The cost depends on the problem and the parts needed. Our service calls start as low as $95, and after we diagnose the issue you get an upfront estimate before any work begins.

A humming sound usually means the motor is getting power but the blades are stuck, most often from a jam caused by food waste or a foreign object like a bottle cap or utensil. Turn off the power to the disposal before checking anything. If it still hums after the jam is cleared, the motor may be failing and needs a technician.

No. Never put your hand in the disposal, even when it’s switched off. Turn off the power at the switch and the breaker first, and use tongs or pliers to remove any object you can see. If you can’t reach the jam safely, call us.

Leaks usually come from a loose or worn sink flange seal, a cracked housing, or loose drain connections. A leak from the body of the unit itself usually means it needs to be replaced, while leaks at the connections can often be repaired. We’ll check to see where it’s coming from and tell you what makes sense.

If your disposal is fairly new and the problem is a jam, a reset, or a loose connection, repair is usually the better value. If it’s over 8 to 12 years old, is leaking from the housing, or has a burned-out motor, replacement is usually the smarter choice. We’ll give you an honest recommendation either way.
