How much does dryer repair cost?

Why is my dryer running but not heating?
On an electric dryer, the usual causes are a burned-out heating element, a blown thermal fuse, or a faulty thermostat. On a gas dryer, it’s often a failed igniter or gas valve coil. It could also be a tripped breaker, since electric dryers use two circuits, so check that first.
Why does my dryer take so long to dry clothes?
The most common cause is a clogged lint filter or dryer vent, which traps hot, moist air. Other causes include a weak heating element, a failing thermostat, or a worn drum seal. If cleaning the lint filter doesn’t help, have the vent and heating system checked.
Is a clogged dryer vent dangerous?
Yes. Built-up lint in the vent is a leading cause of dryer fires, and it also makes the dryer work harder and use more energy. Clean the lint filter after every load, and have the vent inspected and cleaned regularly, especially if your dryer is taking longer than usual to dry.
Is it worth repairing my dryer or should I replace it?
If your dryer is under about 10 to 13 years old and the repair is reasonable, fixing it usually saves money. If it’s older, has had repeated breakdowns, or has a major failure like a bad motor, replacement may make more sense. We’ll give you an honest recommendation either way.
